Water Leak Detection Step Testing
Pinpointing leaks by shutting down a water system
Following a system survey we may use step testing to pinpoint leakage. This leak detection methodology requires valves to isolate elements of the pipe network in turn. Additional valves may be installed before the test is undertaken to improve the effectiveness of the operation. This also provides more control over the system in the future.
Particularly extensive systems may be tested in zones to reduce disruption to users of the site. Works are often conducted when the site is closed, for example out-of-hours, for ease of operations as well as the lack of disturbance to occupants.
The various valve operations are accurately timed, as is the rate of flow through the water meter, in order to determine which lengths of pipe are leaking.
The test is used in combination with those above to pinpoint problems.
