Cesspool Installation & Repair

Sewage storage

A cesspool or cesspit is a tank that is used to collect and temporarily store sewage effluent. The tank has no outlet and so it must be emptied on a regular basis. Modern tanks have audible and visual alarms to warn that the tank is getting full and needs emptying.

Regular emptying of the tank make the cost of maintaining a cesspool in frequent use situations relatively high.

Failure to empty and maintain the cesspool can lead to pollution from the sewage overflow and is a criminal offence, which can lead to prosecution by the Environment Agency.
